This workshop begins with an introduction to OAuth and OpenID Connect concepts, and will lead you through completing an OAuth flow to get an access token and ID token. You will learn the ins and outs of the OAuth Authorization Code flow with PKCE, and get a chance to try it out yourself.

10:00 – 11:30am PDT

Instructors: Tiffany Larson and Bobby Johnson from CSGOAction

In this session you’ll learn how to create an Auth0 tenant, register an application, integrate Auth0 into an Express-based web application for authentication, secure an Express-based API using Auth0, and finally authorize the web application to access the API on behalf of a logged in user.

Completing the course at your own pace and getting a passing grade will award you with the Auth0 Specialist badge on

Create and deploy your custom app in less time with fewer errors using sample code and Terraform automation provided by Okta. In 90 minutes or less, you’ll learn how to do user mappings and assignments, and deploy your app into production. Easily tweak what you learn for your other apps. Developers, DevOps, and DevSecOps will benefit from this lab that showcases a typical CIAM use case.

Configure Kong API Gateway to protect a backend API using Okta. In this workshop, you’ll apply OIDC-based authentication processeses to both Kong Developer Portal and Kong Manager, using Okta as the Identity Provider.

4:00 – 5:30pm PDT

This lab focuses on configuring an OAuth server to protect an API using OAuth access tokens. Throughout the course of the lab, you’ll adjust the token lifetime of your access tokens, create a custom scope in your OAuth server, add a custom claim to the JWT access token, and learn the implications of the decisions of how to validate these tokens.
